The Idea Funnel
A ‘honing in’ Methodology for prolific Idea people
Being Very familiar with the experience of Idea-Overwhelm I have had to create a process to help my branching mind to focus on the most promising ideas.
Here is an introduction to the Idea Funnel.

You may be familiar with sales conversion funnels– this is a bit like that- but more of an alchemical distillation process where you get smaller & more refined as you move down the funnel.
It isn’t as simple as ‘just choose 1’ (which is the advice bane of the multi-faceted entrepreneur’s existence)
but it is about honing in on a project that includes the most important elements of 2 or 3 ideas into 1 cohesive whole.
I find it much easier to commit to a project that is actually a few ideas folded into 1.
#1 VALUES FILTER
You apply a values filter. What’s really important to you? What’s most important to you?
You filter it through those values.
#2 JUICE FILTER
You also apply a juice filter. Which is like passion. I think the question is where’s the energy and vitality? Where’s the juice?
#3 VIABILITY
And then lastly, you apply viability. A viability filter which is like “Is there actually people who need and want and will pay for this?”. Is it actually viable?
Why I don’t ask that question? First, is because something that has lots of juice and is totally lined with your values and isn’t viable. It can still be a project. This just shouldn’t be your priority project if you need to make a living.
It’s good to identify those things. If you start with what’s viable then you might kill off some things that are awesome for passion projects or side projects or might become more viable later.
So values, juice, energy and viability are three of the filters.
